Four Career Stories from Doctoral Students to Doctoral Holders: Qualitative Longitudinal Examination

Aims: Universities and their doctoral programs open a range of career opportunities for students doctors. There is need to problematize assumptions related the construction careers. This study addresses this by examining development paths factors influencing them from qualitative longitudinal perspective. focuses on narrative stories graduates temporal perspective at individual level.
 Study Design: The was conducted as research among Finnish later same persons holders (N=9). aim design find out what kind can be constructed.
 Place Duration Study: data collected in Finland between 2009-2018 analyzed 2022-2023.
 Methodology: level. For study, nine were interviewed 2009 again 2018, covering themes studies using content analysis approach.
 Results: As result, four constructed: Competitive Academic Career, Permanent Lecturer External Proletarian Career Self-selected Balanced Career. results suggest that starting points, personal positioning process structured have significant impact dimensions, skills and, ultimately, prospects candidates. makes visible involved holistic longer-term perspective, allowing deeper understanding dynamics complexity
